Event Type:  Seminar (This is an NIH Science event)
Title:  Non-invasive, In vivo Optical Imaging Applications with Highly-Sensitive, CCD-Camera Systems from Spectral Instruments Imaging
Description:  We are now in an era where preclinical, image core facilities are often equipped with a range of MRI, PET, SPECT, µCT, US, photoacoustic, and optical imaging devices that readily allow investigators to research a broad range of oncology, inflammation, arthritis, and metabolic studies, within mouse and rat model systems. Research goals typically range from characterizing clinically-relevant, disease pathologies in real time, to evaluating the PK/PD profiles of novel therapeutic reagents, and their treatment paradigms.
In this MIF seminar, a Lead Application Scientist from Spectral Instruments Imaging (SII), Andrew Van Praagh, will review how whole-animal, optical and X-Ray imaging devices are uniquely suited to provide preclinical investigators with a high-sensitivity, high-throughput screening platform for detecting both cellular disease targets, as well as the molecular therapeutics used to resolve them. Andrew will start by highlighting the unique the hardware/software features of the SII Lago and Ami systems, and will then launch into a review of recent imaging applications, covering various therapeutic studies in oncology (including glioblastoma multiforma, breast cancer, lung cancer, colorectal cancer, and T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia), graft-vs-host disease, inflammation and arthritis.
