EVENT DESCRIPTION

Event Type:  Class (This is an NIH Science event)

Title:  Molecular Evolutionary Analysis of Pathogens Using BEAST

Description:  This lecture will explore in greater depth the use of Bayesian phylogenetic methods for analyzing the evolution of pathogen sequences. We will review why Bayesian coalescent methods are more appropriate for analyzing pathogen data. We will then review the broad range of capabilities in the BEAST software package and work through a hands-on demo of basic phylogenetic analysis and the analysis of sequentially-sampled (time stamped) data.
