Event Type:  Class
Title:  Enhancing Reader Comprehension with Images and Graphics through Alternative Text for Better Accessibility
Description:  This course provides attendees practical experience in crafting meaningful textual equivalents for images/graphics to enhance accessibility and for Section 508-conformance. If you are involved in the production of publications such as websites, electronically shared documents, articles, leaflets, newsletters or magazines, eBooks or ePubs, then this is the course for you. You will discuss and learn how such media can be inaccessible to people with a range of disabilities. You will then be given practical steps on how to make media you produce usable for all (targeted) audiences.

This session will focus on the practice of writing alternative text to describe images and other visual information (e.g., graphs and charts) for meaningful accessibility. This is not a web design or IT technical course. Rather, it is meant for employees who author electronic publications (?content owners?). There will be separate sessions for scientists and non-scientists.
